Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center provides a broad range of medical services – from primary care at rural outreach locations to the world’s most sophisticated procedures. All inpatient and outpatient services are fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and many of the diagnostic and therapeutic alternatives are not available elsewhere in the region. The 24-hour-a-day LIFE LION aeromedical service provides emergency transport staffed by specially trained emergency medical teams.

Penn State Hershey Medical Center offers a comprehensive array of highly specialized services, including cardiothoracic surgery, high-risk obstetrical care, transplant surgery and spinal cord injury surgery. Specialized care for centers for cancer, heart care, emergency medicine, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, sports medicine and women’s health provide coordinated, cost-effective care. Penn State Hershey has a Level 1 Regional Trauma Center with special designations for treatment of pediatric patients.

Services for children are provided by Penn State Children's Hospital, which is Central and Northeast Pennsylvania's resource for children's specialty care.
